And Then There Were Sirens...

We're nearing the end of day 3 here in Nashville. Things are still going well. We began once again with 7 o'clock breakfast and small group sessions. We got to meet even more people from the other churches and find out about their experiences from the day before. In the large group session that followed, we had the opportunity to hear about different ways that various youth groups have been making a difference in their community and abroad. (It was much better than yesterday's session.) We headed off to VBS with our sack lunches (and much better directions.) We thought everything was going smoothly, but there's always an adventure...

On our way to VBS, Jason (driving the church van) was following Mrs. Cindy in her car. However, he got stuck right behind her... in the middle of an intersection. When the light turned red, people started getting angry. Lucky for them, a cop was on our case. The sirens came on and we were pulled over. After a rush to buckle all our seatbelts, the very nice cop handed Jason a ticket. We didn't let it stop us, though, and we still made it to VBS on time.

For VBS, we were moved to a much smaller and more crowded room in the basement. This didn't work for long, though, because the kids just kept coming! We were able to move back to the other room upstairs. All in all, we ended up with about 15 children and a few mothers. Everyone had a great time making hula skirts, singing songs, and playing with the beach ball. When all was said and done, we packed up and headed to the pool at Vanderbilt.

Right now, we're awaiting our shift to eat dinner and then the conference later on. Sonicflood is really cool, and the night conference has been great both nights so far. Please especially pray for us tomorrow as we share the ABC's of salvation at the VBS. Thanks for all your encouraging comments! (By the way, it was a little cooler today - a major plus!)

(P.S. Yes, we saw Andrew and Steven from Erica's other church at the shelter. We're working on maybe getting together tonight, but it doesn't look promising.)

Hey Everyone - even through the trouble, no doubt God is working in and among all of you as you roll with whatever comes your way. Austin says, "I'm proud of all of you, and I hope you all stay safe and healthy, and I love all of 'em - not just Mom, and have a great time!"
Ethan says, "Love you Mom, come home safe, and when you come home I'm going to give you a big kiss and a hug."
All three of us prayed for all of you today!

Hi there,
In the midst of God's will, there are bound to be obstacles. I trust He will bring you through all of them. I am glad it cooled off for you. I hope you have a great day tomorrow. I'll be praying for your children to be receptive to the ABCs of salvation.
Have a great night and don't forget to wear your seatbelts!

Love, Carolyn D'Olivo

p.s. Hi Erica. We love and miss you.
